Capitol Hill, Washington, D.C.
This stylish client hired me to furnish a three story 150-year-old Capitol Hill home for her family of four (and one on the way) and wanted it to be move-in ready in a matter of weeks. There were a few things that were going to need more time, such as the remodel of the wet bar and the full bath in the walkout basement, as well as redoing the kitchenette and bath in the quasi-apartment on the third floor.
As far as the furniture was concerned, I was able to make the time crunch work by sourcing from retailers such as Room and Board, Restoration Hardware and Land of Nod for her pre-teen daughter. We used durable, yet soft and sophisticated fabrics for the upholstered pieces throughout the home and successfully blended contemporary elements that worked with the existing historic structure.
